    • New NC Innovations Waiver Toolkits Available Now
      We’re excited to announce the launch of the updated NC Innovations Waiver website featuring a toolkit designed to help you promote and explain the NC Innovations Waiver, which offers services including community living, respite care, supported employment, and more. This toolkit contains free flyers and resources for those with NC Medicaid who have intellectual/developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries and are looking for greater support to live in their own homes or communities.

    • New 1915(i) Toolkit Available Now
      We're excited to announce the launch of the updated 1915(i) website featuring a toolkit designed to help you understand and spread the word about 1915(i) home and community-based services in North Carolina. This toolkit is key for those with NC Medicaid who have intellectual/developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, serious mental health conditions, or severe substance use disorders.

  • Services for people who do not have Medicaid. State-funded services may be available, including residential support, day support, community living and support, supportive employment, respite and more. For more information about what services are available in your area, contact your LME/MCO.

Housing

NCDHHS has hired an I/DD Housing Consultant to develop and expand housing resources for the I/DD community. The department is developing a Strategic Housing Plan to create a supportive framework for individuals with all disabilities through various housing options to meet diverse needs. For information on current housing options available in your area, contact your LME/MCO

What do I need to know?

  • You MUST have established residency in NC.
  • Documentation regarding, I/DD or TBI diagnosis is REQUIRED (i.e., psychological).
  • Individuals diagnosed with a brain injury by the age of 21 may be eligible for I/DD services.
  • NC has a Registry of Unmet Needs for the Innovations Waiver
